Study Portuguese (Brazil)

A WORLD TO DISCOVER
The overwhelmingly modernist architecture of the country’s capital, Brasilia, the untouched Amazon rain forest and the carnival in Rio de Janeiro make Brazil an attractive and diverse amusement park.

A FLAMBOYANT COUNTRY
Brazil’s racial melting pot has turned its inhabitants into joyful people, who like to come together and celebrate diversity and differences, in an environment that promotes sharing and peaceful harmony.
And when it’s time to celebrate, let’s dance!! From samba to capoeira, a mixture of African dance and martial arts, do not miss the chance to dance your feet off during your Portuguese language course in Brazil, a country known for its burning desire and passion for dancing!

A LIFE-SIZED BOTANIC GARDEN
The Amazon Basin harbours the most diverse flora in the world. Some experts suggest that one square kilometre can count up to 90 000 tons of living vegetation matter. If you go on a boat trip, you will discover tens of thousands of plant species, unique to the Amazon region: giant water lilies, rubber trees, palm trees and delicious Brazil nuts.

Close to three million insect species, and some 2 000 birds and mammal species live in the depth of the Amazon forest. Here you can find about one fifth of the entire world’s bird species. The exotic wildlife in the Amazon Basin will surprise you: the famous red piranha, the mysterious capybara, the impressive anaconda, and many more.

A UNIQUE CUISINE
Feijoada
If there is a typical Brazilian dish, it would have to be the feijoada! It is often made with black beans, jerked beef, smoked sausages and pork trimmings (ear, tongue, tail). Usually, you fill a bowl with rice and top it off with feijoada.

On top of the feijoada, you add cassava flour, which is a starch that helps thicken the sauce. The dish is garnished with finely chopped Portuguese cabbage and oranges, and then you finish it off with a spicy sauce. Bear in mind that the recipe for feijoada can be different from one place to another; every region has its own version.

Cachaça
The most common beverage in Brazil is the cachaça, a drink which is made from sugarcane. You can drink the cachaça straight up or you can mix it with different fruit juices and sugar, in the batida. The most famous batida is the caipirinha, made with crushed lime, sugar and ice.
